This September, two new SFBJV staff members joined our team! We are thrilled to add a Conservation Coordinator (Jemma Williams) and a Policy & Communications Coordinator (Nikki Roach).
Jemma Williams has worked in the public, private, and non-profit environmental sectors supporting community-based stewardship, restoration, and biological monitoring. Jemma has been in the Bay Area for seven years, with her most recent role as a Biologist/Project Manager in environmental consulting. Jemma managed a variety of complex projects, performed regulatory permit application preparation and management, and mitigation site sourcing and planning.
Over the coming months Jemma’s work with the SFBJV will focus on updating the JV’s Project Tracking system, relaunching the Conservation and Science Committees, and preparing materials for the DC Fly-In, and helping to support other regional efforts such as the SAPMAP and EcoAtlas.
Jemma enjoys reading, digging in her garden, pottery, traveling, hiking, photographing nature/wildlife, and working with herbs and fermented foods. She believes that sustainable systems can be achieved through collaboration, creativity, and implementing nature-based solutions. Connect with Jemma HERE!
Nikki Roach has a Ph.D. in Applied Biodiversity Sciences from Texas A&M University. Nikki has worked across academia, government, and non-profit organizations with a focus on conservation planning for vulnerable communities impacted by climate and land use change. Her work has taken place in coastal wetlands in California and the southeastern US and the cloud forests of Colombia, South America.
Over the coming months Nikki will be focused on updating the SFBJV communications sharing strategy, identifying the key messages from our recent Implementation Strategy and coordinating funding opportunities across the partnership. In March 2023, Nikki will participate in the annual DC fly-in – creating materials for congress about the importance of the SFBJV partnership and accomplishments, and annual needs. Finally, Nikki will work with the SFBJV equity, diversity, and inclusion committee to integrate EDI principles across our partnership.
