Summer Climate Justice Leadership Academy

The Rose Foundation’s six-week paid Climate Justice Leadership Academy offers high school students a deep dive into environmental justice—exploring topics such as climate change, air quality, transportation, housing, food insecurity, race, and equity. Through hands-on activities, experiments, field trips, and engaging curriculum, youth gain the knowledge and skills to become changemakers in their communities. Who Should Apply? High school students from East and West Oakland, Bayview Hunters Point, Richmond, San Pablo, Hercules, Pinole, Pittsburg, and Antioch. The 6-week Academy begins Monday June 9th and ends Friday July 18th, with a MANDATORY IN-PERSON orientation on Saturday, May 31st from 11AM to 2:30 PM. 

Pay: To ensure all youth are able to participate successfully in our program, we offer iPads and technical assistance such as wifi and audio support. Additionally, upon full completion of the Summer Academy and End of Program Summit, youth will be able to keep their iPad, in addition to being awarded a stipend in the amount of $1,500 from New Voices or OUSD, weekly produce boxes, and home garden kits.
