CDFW Bay Delta Region 3 Senior Environmental Scientist Specialist, Water Rights Coordinator

Are you looking to be a part of a dynamic team of conservation-minded scientists working to protect water, fish, and wildlife resources in the San Francisco Bay Area? The Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Water Rights Program is seeking a motivated professional to work as a Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) to engage in the State Water Board’s water right process via review, analysis, and comment on new water rights applications, development of conditions for water right permits and licenses, as well as any proposed changes to existing water rights. This position applies science through the identification of studies, surveys, and data needs required for evaluation of baseline conditions associated with water projects, development of bypass flows and other conditions necessary to protect fish and wildlife resources, and development of terms and conditions to protect public trust resources for water transfer change petitions.

The incumbent works in close collaboration with other Environmental Scientists and Senior Environmental Scientists, and with other state agencies. Under the direction of a Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the incumbent represents the region and provides consultative advice when working with applicants, local, state and federal agencies, stakeholders, and the general public. Public contacts made in the course of this work are sensitive and involve a wide variety of special interest groups.

Pay: $7,820 – $10,732 monthly

Location: Choice between Santa Rosa, Napa, Fairfield, and Stockton offices in CA, hybrid work with a minimum of 2 days per a week in office/field.
