Field Assistants (Multiple positions)

The Natural Resources team at Sonoma County Regional Parks is hiring experienced Field Assistants under the Maintenance II job classification. Multiple seasonal and permanent positions are available.  Open positions include:

  1. Forest management, prescribed fire, fuel reduction assistant.  Assistant will help lead our forestry team in the field.  Applicant should have experience in providing guidance to field crews, chainsaw and tree felling experience, and experience with prescribed fire (both broadcast burns and pile burns), and should be Wildland Firefighter II certified.
  2. Restoration/revegetation and site mitigation monitoring assistant.  Assistant will lead habitat mitigation and monitoring projects and should have experience with revegetation methods and techniques, irrigation systems, landscape maintenance, and plant monitoring experience.  Assistant should be able to work independently on their own and collaborate with others as needed.
  3. Wildlife management assistant. Assistant will assist with wildlife camera program, conduct bird nesting surveys, and help expand our wildlife program.
  4. Botany and invasive plant management assistant. Assistant will help provide guidance to our stewardship team in the field conducting rare plant monitoring, invasive species monitoring and removal, mapping plant resources, and should have strong botanical skills.

Pay: $64,763 – $78,726/ year
