BCDC’s Bay Adapt program is a regional initiative to protect people and the built and natural environment along the Bay from sea level rise and climate change. To assist these efforts, the Coastal Scientist will have a special emphasis on studies and analysis related to compatibility between public access and habitat restoration; social equity and environmental justice issues, and sea level rise and climate change policy issues. The Coastal Planner will assist a wide variety of complex tasks, including: literature research, policy and data analysis, technical and policy report writing, and policy development. Working in partnership with other public agencies and interest groups, the Coastal Scientist develops planning recommendations to the Commission and may provide consultative advice to various governmental agencies and other entities; in addition to being assigned lead responsibility for specific projects.
