Funding Title Northern California Environmental Grassroots Fund
Description The Fund's mission is to bridge a significant gap between grassroots environmental groups and the traditional funding patterns of organized philanthropy. Building the capacity and "people power" of small grassroots groups is an essential step towards greater environmental health and sustainability. The Grassroots Fund supports small grassroots groups throughout greater northern California (Santa Barbara and Kern Counties and all California counties to the north) that are tackling tough environmental problems including toxic pollution, urban sprawl, sustainable agriculture, climate change, environmental degradation of our rivers and wild places, as well as, of our communities and our health. Maximum grant size is $5,000. After receiving a grant, all Grassroots Fund grantees will also become eligible for supplemental organizational capacity-building assistance, including scholarships to attend trainings related to accounting, fundraising, planning, board development, communications, media, database development and similar topics. Grant cycles run every three months, Feb 1, May 1, August 1 and Nov 1. If the deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or official holiday, then submissions are due at 5pm on the next business day. Applications may be submitted at anytime. If they are submitted after the deadline, they will automatically be rolled over to the next grant round. Faxed applications will not be accepted.
